Patakha TV

Sang e Mar Mar, review.

A new play by Hum TV network explores honour killing and the social set up that aid and abet this practice.

Sang e Mar Mar, starring Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kubra Khan, Nauman Ijaz, Sania Saeed and Tipu Sharif, airing on Thursdays during prime time hours, is set in Swat Valley and shows the feud between two families of Saif ur Rehman and Gulistan Khan. Masterfully written by Mustafa Afridi and skilfully directed by actor/director Saif e Hassan, the drama handles many social characteristics of the rural part of KP where tribal jirgas settle family feuds and quarrels.

Another important note for drama makers across the country – please add subtitles to your dramas. A drama like this could be such an important reference point to help international audiences understand the many social stigmas and barriers that exist in Pakistani society as well as the strengths our people have in order to fight them.
